Republicans, are you embarrassed by the McCain campaign trying to cancel the VP debates?

Yep, McCain is trying to run. He’s trying to cancel the debate Friday and conveniently reschedule it the day the VP debates are supposed to take place.

Why is the McCain campaign so afraid of a debate on the issues?

trying to run and make it seem as if he really cares about the economy. he is setting a trap for obama saying that if you care about the economy you will cancel the debates

LOL..is this true? He wants to reschedule it for Oct 2?? ROTFLMAO…How obvious can McCain get?

Nobody seems to be telling me why he wanted to reschedule. I’m sure he has a good reason.

It’s false that he’s “afraid” of debating the messiah: McCain is actually putting the country first by partaking in the economic situation. Barry is the weak one for wanting to continue the debates amid congressional confusion. I say, good job, McCain.

No– a real leader stays in Washington and handles the nation’s business in times of crisis. Watch what Obama does in next few hours–

No, I am not embarrassed at all. And John McCain isn’t afraid of much…least of all Barack Obama. The scrawny little stuttering so and so.

He’s not afraid, what would he be afraid of? Do you know how many times McCain challenged Obama to a debate and he refused?

He and Obama are active Senators who have a responsibility to tend to the crisis our country is having right now. Obama is neglecting to do his job, why doesn’t anyone care that he’s not doing what people pay him to? A godamn debate isn’t half as important as the economic crisis going on right now. People seem to forget this is a country that runs off our elected officials. As much as the Obamites love to see their rockstar in action, the country is far more important.

This is a childish and unwarranted argument and the best the liberals have to bash McCain with. I’m not even a McCain fan and it is painfully obvious people have no clue about the real issues.

Why is the economy up to him to fix it all of a sudden?
Why hasnt he fixed it alll this time?
McCains “bailing” himself out from the debates.

Isn’t McCain the one that badgered Obama again and again for a debate? If he didn’t want to debate, why would he ask, again and again? Obama seems to me to be the candidate that was avoiding a debate in the first place. We are lucky we even squeezed this one out of him. I think the Liberals should be happy that he wants to postpone. More time for Obama to practice trying not to say “Um” when he doesn’t have a teleprompter.

  13. Jenny C responded on 01 Oct 2009 at 6:00 pm #

McCain is not afraid to debate. He is the one who has always asked for more debates and Obama was the one to refuse.
The Democrats in Congress said they were not going to sign onto this bailout unless McCain did. They were going to take their cue from him. Of course they do not need Obama in Wash DC…they have Pelosi to lead their party. But it is at a stalemate now and if the Dems won’t sign some kind of legislation and the Republicans won’t then McCain needs to be there to break the stalemate and get something done before we go under.
The economic crisis needs to be taken care of now! Obama was probably going to vote present anyway as he is afraid to be held accountable.

So what is the big deal about waiting until the crisis is over to listen to a debate? No date for rescheduling the debate has even been discussed. If things go well it could still be on Friday. McCain has not just postponed the debate, he has put all politics on hold including campaign and campaign ads. This is not a time for politics, but a time for bipartisanship and working together, not continuing to fight each other publicly. Obama is just trying to turn it all his way….all talk at a debate and no walk by taking real action.

  14. PrettyGoodMom responded on 04 Oct 2009 at 1:25 pm #

Please state your source regarding the rescheduling date. I believe you are mistaken or full of crap.

Either way, the debate isn’t cancelled yet. Obama says he will be there - the debate is more important to him than being part of a 700 billion dollar decision making process.

McCain - Country First (not campaign)

McCain would cancel his whole RNC if people in the south were in worst Crisis….

So no I am not embarrassed…

He is being a true hero, for trying to save this country from financial crisis.

Washington does not need Mccain right now, they have plenty of people to handle this mess, including our President, forget about him? The American people have a right to know what is going on, suspending his campaign, what a joke. At least we know Obama can do two things at once, he said he would, and could. Why not move the debates to Washington, if it’s so important for 2 Senators to be there. All Mccain is doing is buying more time, either for himself, or Sarah Palin, since he wants to suspend the debates until the VP debates. Can’t people see through this smokescreen?………Obama\ Biden 08′

Are you really that certain the debates are going to go in Obama’s favor? They really haven’t gone so well the other times Obama was off the teleprompter.

    Sample of the debates:

Question: Do you think that chocolate tastes good? Senator Obama, your remarks.

Obama: To preface my answer, I must first distinguish between the qualitative and quantitative concepts of “goodness,” first elaborating the potentialities of detriment and deceit within the loaded abstraction, and then depicting my stance within a limited interpretation of the question’s bounds. Next we must establish the relativity of the “goodness” to taste, and furthermore expose the inherent nature of chocolate, including the nutritionally deleterious accoutrements intrinsic to the comestible byproduct. Finally, we must distinguish between various varieties - does the questioner intend all forms of chocolate, and does that include white chocolate, of which I am not as fond, though…

Questioner: BEEP - I’m sorry, your time is up. Senator McCain?

McCain: Yes, I think chocolate tastes good. I’d like to take the rest of my time to do my job as a Senator and work on the financial crisis, if you don’t mind.

  18. Karen C responded on 10 Oct 2009 at 8:41 pm #

A date for rescheduling the debate has not even been discussed. Give a source for this rumor you are trying to start as it has not been mentioned at all on one single news report and I listen to them all.

As the primary debates showed, Obama does very well in the classic debate format and McCain doesn’t do as well. That’s why McCain wanted those town hall style debates. That’s a format in which he performs better. That’s also why Obama wasn’t too keen on the idea.

As for running from the VP debates, Palin (as her one in-depth television interview has shown) isn’t ready to debate. Even to herself, Palin was a surprise pick. She doesn’t know her stuff yet, and she hasn’t had time to learn. That’s why the Republicans (who were all for being tougher on female candidates than male candidates precisely BECAUSE they are female back when Hillary was running) are making hay over the media’s treatment of Palin. They’re doing their best to keep her name in the headlines (because she’s more interesting than McCain) while keeping her out of the spotlight.

I find it freaking hilarious that people are repeating the same excuse that Fox News has so conveniently provided: “McCain is putting the country first.” Ridiculous!

  21. Brenda M responded on 16 Oct 2009 at 12:09 pm #

Ryan, you need to go back and check YOUR facts. The debate this Friday is between McCain and Obama NOT a VP debate. McCain is doing the right thing by going back to Washington and doing the job he was elected to do.

Obama is completely in the wrong. He has a job to do as well. This shows Obama’s complete lack of regard for the taxpayer and the most basic of leadership skills.

P.S. The debate this Friday is supposed to be a foreign policy debate. McCain HAS NO reason to back out of a foreign policy debate. In this area, he has the greatest experience and knowledge. I hope he wipes the floor with Obama and reminds everyone watching that Obama couldn’t even be bothered to show up in Congress for us at this most important time. What a coward!

P.P.S. The VP debates are scheduled for October 2.

Oh hell yea!!! Reps are very proud! Come on…
Do you even need to ask this question? Even if you point out the wrong things that the Reps did, they will never admit to it, they will just cover it up and lie about it and at the same time ignore reality.

Meanwhile, they are closely watching their opponents to make a mistake, once they see it, they will cry foul. Hypocrites… (pretty good tactic by the way, play dirty)

If i was a Republican, i will be proud.
