How will Palin’s daughters pregnancy affect the campaign?
Republicans, for a long time now, have supported teaching children abstinence and have strongly criticized mothers who became pregnant before marriage. Yet they have nominated a woman’s whos own daughter lost her virginity and became pregnant before marriage. Besides looking hypocritical I think it might cost them the catholic vote. What type of impact do you think this revelation will have on the presidential campaign, if any at all?
I appreciate the replies.

It doesn’t affect my vote, I’m not voting for her daughter. I also know that no parent is perfect, and no matter how hard you try, kids sometimes don’t do as they have been raised to do. I’m sure this happens in Democrat famlies as well!
I’m sorry her daughter is preganant out of wedlock, but obviously she’ll keep the baby. The difference is, that if they were democrats, they’d most likely have had their daugther abort the child and no one would ever know she was preganant out of wedlock, that she wasn’t a virgin, or that she’d killed her child.
With a preganant teenager, a parent might be sorry for the situation, but they should make the best of it. I understand their daughter is to marry the father of the baby, so that’s a start.

no not all Republicans. It won’t cost them the Catholic vote unless she aborts the baby, there is no way the Catholic vote is going to willingly choose an extreme pro-choice supporter. You probably won’t like that fact, but that is fact.
I think conservative Republicans will rally behind her (as they are already showing to do after the announcement). I think Democrats will desperately use it as a way to attack her (as they are already doing after the announcement). Some independents will show support, others will back away. Overall, though, this was definately not a “good” thing for the McCain campaign.
We’ll just have to wait and see if it turns out as bad as “bittergate” and the Wright fiasco.

Sorry to burst both our bubbles, but Mccain is still pandering to catholics. Catholics don’t give a crap what THEY do, only what YOU do. Just look at the high incest/molestation rates amongst them . . . Catholics only vote partison.
Think they REALLY care about children? Think they’re pro-life? Think again. They support a man who has caused deaths of thousands, trillions of dollars which could have saved thousands of more lives, and the vast majority of them support the Death Penalty and other institutions that take life away.

From now until the election, the term “pro-life” will subconsciously be associated with a pregnant teen. This will make the pro-life position unpopular, and make it harder for pro-life candidates to defend their position.
